OVERVIEW |
|
| |
|
|
| |
The 2.5-star Aqua Island Colony is centrally
located in the heart of Waikiki, only 3
blocks from two different beaches. Within
walking distance are world class shopping,
exciting Waikiki nightclubs and every
imaginable type of cuisine you could
possibly want, from inexpensive noodle shops
to elegant 5-Star award-winning restaurants.
The hotel is the tallest building in Waikiki
at 44 stories, so most of the views are
spectacular, especially on the upper floors.
From the Ko'olau Mountains to downtown
Honolulu to Diamond Head and to the Pacific
Ocean, there are beautiful panoramic views.
The lobby is open air and very comfortable
with various sitting areas and offers guests
complimentary WiFi in the lobby or computer
access in the Internet Café (fee).
There is a large swimming pool with an
expansive deck on the 6th Floor with
beautiful views of the Ko'olau Mountains,
Ala Wai Canal and the Ala Wai Golf Course.
There is also a large hot tub/spa and sauna
(located just inside the door to the outside
pool). Complimentary access to a Fitness
Center is at a companion hotel, just two
blocks away.
Other property amenities include 24-hour
front desk, 24-hour guest services agent,
access to AquaSPA facilities at a companion
hotel, Activities Desk, ATM, bell services,
complimentary local newspapers in the lobby,
laundry/dry cleaning, fax and copy services
available (fee), laundry facility, luggage
storage, nonsmoking guest rooms and floors,
security, sundry store, ADA rooms and
parking available.
There is no on-site restaurant, but there is
a wide selection nearby including Matteo's
Italian Restaurant, Cheeseburger in Paradise
and the new Waikiki Beach Walk area, with
new shops, coffee bars, a wonderful Italian
gelato shop and some great restaurants from
the The Yard House Restaurant, once known
for its vast beer selection, but now also
well known for its high quality food;
Giovanni Pastrami, huge portions of really
good food; and the Holokai Grill serving up
great fare at reasonable prices. For higher
end there is the renowned Ruth's Chris Steak
House, open for lunch and dinner; the
award-winning Hawaiian Fusion Cuisine from
renowned chef, Roy Yamaguchi at his Roy's
Restaurant, open for dinner only; and, Nobu
Waikiki Restaurant, featuring exquisite
contemporary Japanese cuisine, at very
exquisite prices.
The Aqua Island Colony is considered a
budget hotel, but like all Aqua properties,
it offers a huge amount of amenities for
such a reasonably priced hotel. The staff is
helpful, the property is maintained
beautifully and the price is amazingly low
for everything you get. After a day
exploring the island of Oahu or spending the
day at the beach, come back and take a swim
in the pool and watch the lights come on the
mountains across from the canal - it's quite
memorable. |
