After a $30 million renovation in 2002 and a
total refurbishment in 2006, the 3.5-Star
Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel is still setting
Waikiki on fire! Along with the Tiki Grill &
Bar, the hotel is one of the hottest spots
in town with its fabulous new décor, great
staff, the clever (and delicious) Breakfast
on the Beach and, of course, one of the most
fantastic locations, right across from
Waikiki Beach. And with eighty-five percent
of the rooms having an ocean view, it really
makes this a very special hotel.
Upon arrival, guests receive a complimentary
welcome amenity of bottled water, a
two-for-one luau coupon with one paid ticket
and the Aloha Book worth hundreds of dollars
in savings on dining, shopping,
entertainment and golf. Property amenities
include a swimming pool, free daily
newspaper, guest activity desk, laundry
facility, sundry store, live entertainment
nightly, valet parking (fee), security, high
speed internet "Hotspot" and more. On the
lower level there is a Wolfgang Puck Express
and Cold Stone Creamery.
Fortunately for guests staying at the hotel,
the room service is provided by one of
Honolulu's hottest restaurants, Tiki's Grill
& Bar. Located pool level of the hotel,
Tiki's serves lunch and dinner and features
a very varied menu, including many local
favorites. To put it simply, the food is
really wonderful and the prices are very
reasonable. Picture yourself sitting outside
under an umbrella, overlooking Waikiki Beach
and the Pacific Ocean, with gentle trade
winds, tiki torches flickering in the
moonlight and the mellow sounds of live
contemporary Hawaiian music. Add some Kalua
Pig Quesadillas, or Korean-style garlic
chicken wings or fresh Ahi sashimi to nibble
on and a tropical cocktail and you're just
this side of heaven.
The hotel has been described as "Aloha with
an Attitude" and "Hip Hawaiian", but however
it is described one thing is certain. This
is a really great hotel with a great
location, a wonderful staff and prices that
are unusually low for such a property. Check
