OVERVIEW |
|
| |
|
|
| |
The 3-star OHANA Waikiki Beachcomber is
located in the heart of Waikiki on Kalakaua
Avenue. It is just steps to Waikiki Beach,
adjacent to the open-air International
Market Place (a great place to buy souvenirs
to take back home) and across the street
from the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center,
home to designer boutiques and
multi-cultural dining.
This is an older hotel that was recently
taken over by the well-known Outrigger/OHANA
Hotel chain. They recently completed a
multi-million dollar renovation of all
rooms, guest corridors and elevators. Like
all their properties, the staff is well
trained and service is always impressive,
whether at the more upscale Outrigger
properties or the OHANA properties. Family
friendly, the Waikiki Beachcomber is a
perfect spot for those want a clean, well
run hotel at a reasonable price, especially
with such an ideal location.
Property amenities include complimentary
wireless internet access in the lobby, ample
covered parking (fee), a beautiful new
swimming pool with cobalt blue tiles on the
third level with a sun deck that features
beautiful porcelain tiles in a brown and
gold flagstone pattern. There is also a new
Jacuzzi (scheduled to open mid-January),
sundries store, laundry facilities, 24 hour
reception desk and, for those who might have
forgotten an item of clothing to pack, there
is a very nice Macy's on the ground floor,
with a good selection of clothing, makeup
and other items, including beachwear and
aloha attire.
The hotel features an incredible package of
complimentary amenities including internet
access, local and long distance phone calls
to the Continental U.S. & Canada (first 15
minutes free), in-room safe, in-room coffee
daily, local newspaper, digital pagers for
early check-in guests and passes for all
guests in the room for up to 5 days, on the
Waikiki Trolley's Pink Line throughout
Waikiki and to Ala Moana Shopping Center.
If you happen to arrive early before the
normal 3 pm check-in, the hotel has luggage
storage available, as well as Hospitality
Rooms for those with late departures. The
Beachcomber also features both ADA
accessible rooms and Hearing Impaired Rooms
with a TDD Machine.
The Waikiki Beachcomber is also home to the
wonderful Magic of Polynesia, featuring
Hawaii's own well known illusionist, John
Hirokawa. Located on the lobby level, the
700-seat theater was specially designed for
his electrifying displays with shows Tues.
through Saturday for dinner seating or show
only seating. The hotel's Hibiscus Cafe has
been closed and work begun on the 400-seat
Jimmy Buffett's at the Beachcomber
restaurant and showroom, scheduled for a
November 2008 opening.
The OHANA Waikiki Beachcomber has a great
location, moderate prices, less than a block
from Waikiki Beach, the renovations on the
rooms are really lovely and, of course, all
those amazing complimentary amenities that
usually involve a fee at resorts. While
there are no restaurants in the hotelat this
time, directly across the street is The
Cheesecake Factory and toward Ala Moana is
the new Beach Walk area with a wide
assortment of restaurants and bars. Then
there is Duke's located beachside in the
Outrigger Waikiki Hotel, a hop and skip from
the Beachcomber, where you can watch the
sunset, sip on a great cocktail and listen
to contemporary Hawaiian music for an
unforgettable evening. |
