OVERVIEW |
|
| |
|
|
| |
Swanzy Beach Park was created in the 1920's
after Julie Judd Swanzy donated five acres
of land she inherited from her father
Colonel Charles Hastings Judd, to the City and county of Honolulu for
the purpose of creating a beach park. The
park was given the name "Julie Judd Swanzy
Park" in 1950, and now it is simply known as
Swanzy Beach Park.
There is not much of a beach at Swanzy Beach
Park, because most of it has been washed
away, and a seawall has been built to
protect the park from further erosion. If
you swim here, be careful, because there are
many rocks in the sand. Facilities at Swanzy
Beach Park include restrooms, showers, a
children's playground, picnic tables, and
nine camp sites. Note that camping is only
allowed Friday through Sunday night. Swanzy
Beach Park is not the best place for
swimming, but it is a popular spot for
fishing and octopus gathering. |
