OVERVIEW |
|
| |
|
|
| |
Sandy
Beach Park is located on the southeastern
coast of Oahu. With its pounding waves, this
is one of the best beaches in the world for
experienced surfers and body borders.
However, if the surf is up and if you are
not an experienced swimmer, don’t dare to go
into the water.
Sandy Beach is another very popular beach in
south Oahu. It is especially popular among
the locals for bodysurfing and
boogieboarding. Actually this beach is one
of the best in Hawaii for these activities.
(Another being Makena Beach on Maui)
But it cant be stressed enough that this
beach is only for experienced swimmers. In
addition to the powerful shorebreak, there
are dangerous rip currents as well. There
have been many an ambulance called to this
beach for broken bones and injuries. Please
pay attention to all the warning flags and
the lifeguards instructions.
But, not to be all doom and gloom, Sandy
Beach is a great spot to sunbath, people
watch, watch the amazing surf and those who
ride it, and watch the sunset. You can get
great picture taking opportunities also. |

PLEASE NOTE |
|
| |
|
|
| |
While
Hawaii's beaches can bring much enjoyment,
it is always a good practice to use common
sense while visiting them. Please be aware
of the wave & wind conditions before going
into the water. Mornings are usually best
for swimming, snorkeling or diving. Have
respect for the strength of the waves and be
aware that high surf can come up at any
time. NEVER turn your back to the ocean.
Be careful when exploring any rocky
shorelines. Waves can crash on the rocks and
knock you over easily, and the rocks may
also be sharp when walking on them.
When snorkeling or scuba diving, please have
respect for ocean life, and remember that
the coral reef is alive too. Avoid standing
on or touching if at all possible. |
