In every aspect of life, it’s truly important for each
individual to self educate and do the necessary research
when making important personal and financial decisions in
life. In my busy schedule I have time set aside to travel
and see the world, and when I travel I want to save as much
money as possible. The best way to do this was to join a
travel company that would still allow me to focus on my goal
of being the best travel site, wedding planner and wedding
florist (both with my wife of course) on Maui, but still allow
me to get the big discounts on travel.
I researched the top 5 online travel agent companies to
find out which company would be the best to join up with. I decided that Traverus was the best company. They have
been in business for many years

agents in, approx. 1 year ago – so this is ground level
opportunity) and the company and its owner David Manning
have a great reputation. Currently, you can become a certified travel agent
with them which gets you an IATA / IATAN # and gets you your own travel website. PLUS you
can call companies direct and book travel for clients. I
personally called several vendors and asked them if I get
discounts as a travel agent. The answer was YES, but one of the 1st
question they asked me was “What’s your IATA # ?”. We have
discovered that in many cases, the travel agent discount is
greater than the Kaamaina discount (for Hawaii residents).
Traverus
has a very simple online travel agent course which takes
about 2-5 hours to complete ( It took me about 1.5 hours),
and then Traverus sends you a travel agent certification
badge after approx. 90 days. You can then get your CLIA
certification
which gets you better discounts / education on cruises for
a small fee. You are also eligible for FAM ( short for
familiarization) trips ( trips only for travel agents at
very discounted rates in exchange for doing things while on
board such as touring the ship, meeting the staff, etc.
Most
cruises allow FAM trips $40.00 - $60.00 per day per person
with a CLIA certification). From all of my research,
I
have come to the conclusion that Traverus is a very
legitimate company; as they have an IATA# and actually train
their employees as (CTA's), certified travel agents.
This is a great opportunity for the person who loves to
travel OR for the person who may just want to bring people
into the company. You may not be any of these, and that is
fine. However if you are interested in traveling a little
more, saving money on your travel, having your own site to
receive commission where people can book travel online (Your family and friends will book vacations with you if
they can get the same or better price than Travelocity, Orbitz, or Expedia), be able to deduct travel expenses on
your taxes, and make some side money if you bring friends
